One week in Orvieto, a project to photograph this beauitiful Umbrian hilltop town and capture something of its essence.

Light and Shade in the brightly sunlit streets, the stonework of the magnificent papal cathedral and the patterns of cobbled streets and terra cotta roofs led to this black and white photographic essay.

Personal Choices is a selection of my works that don't fit any specific criteria other than that I like them. They represent photographic moments captured and processed over the past ten years (2007 to 2016). These works are exclusively digital captures.

Whilst some of the included works may have achieved some exhibition success, a significant portion of the works presented here will never be entered into the world of international photography exhibitions.

These works are more personal and not constrained by the rigours of competitive exhibition entry, giving reign to my fascination with pattern, texture, abstraction and minimalism. This enables interpretation of what is before my lens in preference to merely documenting what is in front of me.

Keith has a passion for travelling and photographing in Italy. His landscapes from Tuscany and the Dolomites rank amongst his best landscape work.

This book sets out to capture the spirit and essence of the holy tourist trinity of Rome, Tuscany and Venice with minimal resort to 'postcard' photos of iconic locations.

Roma - the grimy chaos of Rome cannot diminish the splendour of a history that is both well preserved and persevered with.

Toscana - classic landscape beauty and charming medieval villages.

Venezia - the spirit of the real Venice is evident in the residential districts and back canals where the locals live, work and play.

Burano - dependent on tourism it may be, but the vibrant colours of Burano always leave me with a smile on my face.

June 2017, a fine art photography workshop led by Peter Eastway and Tony Hewitt on Middlehurst Station, in the South Island's remote Awatere Valley.

Whether on ground, or in the air, the sense of being in the clouds was ever present, accompanied by changeable early winter weather that challenged the photographer every step of the way.

To achieve a body of visual, photographic art that satisfies self, and hopefully enlightens others, requires a clarity of vision and purpose and the self-belief to take chances with the available light and weather conditions.

A photographer does not always need golden hour conditions to capture the beauty within a landscape.

Middlehurst proved that time and again.

Autumn in the Canyonlands of America’s South West.

Familiar landscapes, carved by time, exceeding expectation. Lands with dual mythologies competing for primacy. Indigenous cultures reclaiming their birthright running into the iconic western movie mythology carved by Hollywood. It is an uneasy balance in landscapes familiar throughout the world.

As a photographer, familiarity provides many challenges:

- can I shoot these locations differently?

- will I end up with postcards or Instagram look a likes?

- does it matter?

I hope that with this photobook I have meandered far enough away from a purely "postcard" view of the Canyonlands in America's south west, to share with you the beauty of some of the most photographed locations in the world.

That Czech history is dominated by church and empire is as evident in the small towns now marketed to tourists under the UNESCO World Heritage banner, as it is evident on the Prague skyline.

Let me take you to Czechia with an urban study of its capital Prague and the UNESCO listed villages of Cesky Krumlov and Telc.

This is my experience of Czechia - enigmatic, contradictory, beautiful, but with a dark past - it truly blends the absurd, the surreal and the mundane into a contemporary society striving for it's unique place within modern Europe.

Personal Choices: 2 is the natural successor to Personal Choices, which was published in 2017. I wrote then that Personal Choices was a selection of my works that did not fit any specific criteria other than that I liked them. This volume echoes that philosophy.

These works are personal favourites, that continue my obsessions with light, pattern, texture, abstraction and minimalism. They are expressions and interpretations of that which fascinates me when I have my camera in hand and the intuition takes over.

Unlike my recent travel-themed photobooks, these photographs stand by themselves rather than as part of a curated body of work bound together with a common theme or location.

I sincerely hope that you will enjoy my photographs, I have enjoyed the process of collating them for inclusion in this anthology.
